The Ghana Police Service has announced the deployment of additional security personnel to Nkwanta following recent violent incidents in the area. The Inspector-General of Police authorized the dispatch of two armoured vehicles along with officers from the National Police Operations to strengthen security presence. Authorities have indicated that calm has now been restored.
In a related development, five bodies—comprising three males and two females—have been recovered from two different locations within the Nkwanta South Municipality. The recovery operation was carried out by a joint team involving the Police, Military, BNI, Defence Intelligence, and personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service.
Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incidents and to ensure that those responsible are identified and brought to justice.
Residents of Nkwanta and nearby communities have been advised to remain calm and support ongoing investigations by sharing any useful information with security agencies. The public has also been cautioned against spreading misinformation or engaging in actions that could escalate tensions.
