On Friday, March 27, 2026, the management of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) released an official notice to inform the general public, particularly customers along the Eastern Corridor, about an upcoming planned power interruption.
According to the announcement, the affected communities will experience power outages from Monday, March 30, 2026 to Thursday, April 02, 2026. The interruptions will occur daily between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
Areas Affected
The locations expected to be impacted include Yendi, Sang, Mion, Bimbila, Salaga, Kete–Krachi, Kpandai, Kpassah, Chinderi, Wulensi, Saboba, Chereponi, Zabzugu, Tatale, Gushegu, Karaga, as well as their surrounding communities.
Reason for the Power Interruption
The planned outages are intended to facilitate work by Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo). The project involves replacing the existing 33MVA transformer at the Yendi Sub-station with a 66MVA transformer, effectively doubling the current capacity to enhance service delivery.
