The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced the release of funds to support the payment of fees for the 2026 WASSCE practical examinations across the country.
According to the statement dated 21st April 2026, and referenced GES/HQ/PR/26/134, the funds have been disbursed to all Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS). This move is aimed at fully covering the cost of practical exams for candidates preparing for the 2026 WASSCE.
The release further explains that the funding will ensure that all practical examinations are adequately resourced. This includes the provision of necessary materials and other essential items required to successfully conduct the exams.
GES indicated that this initiative is intended to promote a smooth and properly organized examination process. By doing so, students will be able to concentrate on their studies without distraction, while parents and guardians are relieved of any financial responsibilities related to the practicals.
In addition, regional, district, and school authorities have been urged to apply the funds strictly for their intended purpose. This directive is meant to ensure accountability and the effective use of the resources provided.
Management also emphasized that it will continue to oversee how the funds are utilized to ensure compliance and to uphold high standards in the administration of the examinations.
The Service concluded by expressing appreciation to all stakeholders for their continued cooperation in promoting quality education, while reaffirming its commitment to providing a supportive environment for the success of students.
The statement was signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at the Ghana Education Service.
