The Ghana Education Service has officially announced the approved academic calendar for the 2025/2026 school year for all basic schools across the country. This includes Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High Schools.
First Term Schedule (15 Weeks)
The first term is set to begin on 2nd September 2025 and will end on 18th December 2025. Students will proceed on vacation from 19th December 2025 to 7th January 2026. A mid-term break is scheduled from 31st October to 3rd November 2025.
Second Term Schedule (12 Weeks)
The second term will commence on 8th January 2026 and conclude on 1st April 2026. The vacation period for this term will run from 2nd April 2026 to 20th April 2026.
Third Term Schedule (13 Weeks)
The final term of the academic year will begin on 21st April 2026 and end on 23rd July 2026, with vacation starting on 24th July 2026.
BECE Examination Dates
The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is scheduled to take place from 4th May to 11th May 2026.
Important Notice to Stakeholders
The Ghana Education Service has reminded all stakeholders that public holidays within the academic year must be observed accordingly. Additionally, each term will include a two-day mid-term break.
School heads, teachers, parents, and guardians are encouraged to take note of these dates and make the necessary preparations to ensure a smooth and successful academic year.
