USTED Releases Official Notice on Supported Teaching in Schools (STS) for Affiliated Colleges

Students in affiliated Colleges of Education under the University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (USTED) have been officially notified to commence their Supported Teaching in Schools (STS) observation exercise.

This directive was issued in a memorandum dated April 23, 2026, by the Institute for Teacher Professional Development and Lifelong Learning (ITPDLL). According to the notice, the exercise forms part of the 2025/2026 academic calendar and applies to Level 100 to Level 300 students.

As outlined, students are expected to undertake the Student Internship Programme (SIP) during the vacation period. The STS observation is scheduled to last for two weeks and should be carried out in schools located within the students’ respective localities.

In preparation for the exercise, students are required to present introductory letters to the schools where they will undertake the observation. Additionally, they are expected to prepare and submit their STS reports once colleges resume for the second semester.

The memorandum also called on principals of the affiliated colleges to ensure that Level 300 students are duly informed about the commencement of the exercise.

The notice was signed by Prof. Dr. Benedict Osei-Owusu and copied to the Vice-Chancellor. It was also distributed to principals of several Colleges of Education, including Ada, Akatsi, Bagabaga, Mampong Technical, NJA, Komenda, Wiawso, St. John Bosco, and Ghana Muslim Mission Colleges of Education.
