The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a strong caution to Heads of Senior High Schools and Technical Schools concerning the unauthorised registration of candidates for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to GES management, it has come to their attention that some school heads are registering Form Two students and, in certain cases, private candidates for the WASSCE without approval. These registrations are reportedly being carried out outside official guidelines, often involving the collection of fees.
GES has clearly stated that school heads are permitted to register only Form Three students for the WASSCE. These students must have complete and verifiable academic records, showing their progression from Year One through to Year Three within the school’s official database. Any attempt to register Form Two students or private candidates by school authorities is strictly forbidden.
The Service emphasized that any school head or official who participates in such unauthorised activities, including charging money for registration, will be considered to have engaged in misconduct and abuse of office.
All school heads and officials have therefore been cautioned that violating this directive will result in severe disciplinary action, in line with Ghana Education Service and WAEC regulations, with no exceptions.
The notice was issued by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations of the Ghana Education Service, and serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering strictly to established examination registration procedures.
