According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Bridget Opoku, the suspect was apprehended at the Accra International Airport, formerly known as Kotoka International Airport. The arrest followed a swift, intelligence-driven operation carried out by the Odumase-Krobo District Police Command with support from BNI officers.
The statement indicated that preliminary findings suggest the suspect was in the process of sending the child to Kenya. The victim has since been rescued and safely reunited with her father.
The suspect appeared before the Odumase-Krobo Circuit Court on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, where she entered a plea of not guilty. She has been remanded into police custody and is scheduled to reappear on May 5, 2026, for a case management conference.
The Eastern Regional Police Command has called on the public to stay alert and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
