The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has started disbursing funds to eligible students in public tertiary institutions across Ghana under the Government’s No Academic Fees policy for the 2025/2026 academic year.
According to the Fund, a total of 184,489 records were submitted by 163 public tertiary institutions nationwide as admission data for first-year students. Out of this number, 161,170 students have successfully completed the validation of their information and are currently being processed for payment.
As part of the implementation for the academic year, the Fund has introduced a direct-to-institutions payment model for students enrolled in Colleges of Education, Colleges of Agriculture, and Health Training Institutions. Under this arrangement, academic fees for 41,007 students have already been paid directly to 137 institutions.
The Fund also stated that under the reimbursement model, academic fee payments have been completed for the first group of 11,000 first-year students in public universities and public technical universities.
In total, 52,007 students have so far benefited from the No Academic Fees initiative for the 2025/2026 academic year, while remaining beneficiaries are expected to receive payment in later phases.
SLTF reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that no qualified Ghanaian student is denied access to tertiary education because of financial challenges. The Fund also expressed appreciation for the cooperation and support received from stakeholders during the implementation of the policy.
The statement was signed by Dr. Saajida Shiraz, Chief Executive Officer of the Students Loan Trust Fund.
