The National Secretariat of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has officially declared a nationwide demonstration involving teacher trainees and trained teachers affected by the 2022–2024 backlog.
According to the Association, the planned action is in response to the limited number of recruitment opportunities recently announced, which does not match the increasing number of trained teachers awaiting placement. TTAG explained that the decision was reached after extensive consultations and a thorough review of concerns raised by its members, emphasizing the urgent need for a more inclusive and responsive teacher recruitment system.
The demonstration has been scheduled for Friday, 24th April, 2026, and will take place across all Colleges of Education nationwide. A major convergence point has also been designated in Accra.
TTAG indicated that all necessary security arrangements have been made in collaboration with the appropriate authorities to ensure that the exercise is conducted peacefully and in an orderly manner. As a result, all forty-nine Colleges of Education have been directed to participate fully, demonstrating unity, discipline, and a strong sense of urgency.
The Association reaffirmed its commitment to building a strong and united front that prioritizes the welfare of teacher trainees, underscoring its guiding principle of putting trainees at the heart of its mission.
The statement was jointly signed by the General Secretary, Victor Atsu Anyidoho, and the President, Nanija Divine, and addressed to all media houses across Ghana.
