University of Cape Coast Mourns Loss of Lecturer and Teaching Assistant



The University of Cape Coast has announced with deep sorrow the passing of Dr. Kwabena Koforobour Agyemang and his teaching assistant, Mr. Peter Amoadu-Asmah.


According to a statement issued by the university’s management on Tuesday, 28th April 2026, the two lost their lives in a tragic motor accident at Third Ridge along the Cape Coast–Accra highway.


Dr. Agyemang served as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Regional Planning at the University of Cape Coast. He was recognised within the academic community for his commitment to teaching, research, and service. The university noted that his contributions and presence would be greatly missed by colleagues, students, and everyone who had the opportunity to work with him.


Mr. Amoadu-Asmah was a National Service Person who had graduated from the same department the previous year. The university stated that he had excelled academically and emerged as the overall best graduating student in the department.


Management of the University of Cape Coast, together with the wider university community, extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and offered prayers during this difficult period.


The university also appealed to the public, especially members of the media, to remain sensitive and measured in reporting on the incident.
