The MTN Ghana Foundation has opened applications for the 2026/2027 edition of its Bright Scholarship Programme.
The scholarship initiative is intended to reduce the financial challenges students face by paying for tuition, accommodation, and important learning materials. Through this support, the programme seeks to remove obstacles that can hinder academic success while helping to nurture future leaders and innovators in Ghana.
Applications are open to Ghanaian continuing students enrolled in undergraduate programmes, as well as those undertaking vocational and technical skills training in any public tertiary institution nationwide. Eligible applicants must complete the online application through the official scholarship portal; scholarship.mtn.com.gh before the deadline on May 31, 2026.
To be considered, applicants must be citizens of Ghana with strong academic performance and a record of good conduct. Candidates must also not be under any disciplinary action. The Foundation has stated that the application process is entirely free, and all submissions must be made online, as printed applications will not be accepted.
Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer at MTN Ghana, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to promoting education and supporting young people. She explained that the Bright Scholarship is specifically designed to assist talented students facing financial difficulties, highlighting the importance of investing in the youth for the country’s development.
She also encouraged qualified students to apply, revealing that 500 scholarships will be awarded in 2026. Out of this number, 300 scholarships will go to students pursuing first degrees in STEM programmes, vocational courses, and technical skills training, while 200 scholarships will be reserved for teachers pursuing further studies at public universities.
The Bright Scholarship Programme was first introduced in 2018 as part of the Foundation’s pledge during MTN’s 20th anniversary celebration in 2016, when the company committed to awarding 300 scholarships over three years. After the positive impact of the first phase, the initiative was extended again in 2021 during MTN’s 25th anniversary to reach more students.
Since its introduction, the MTN Ghana Foundation has provided more than 2,000 scholarships to students at different levels of education, from basic school to tertiary institutions across Ghana.
