Government Imposes Motorbike Restrictions in Binduri Following Security Incident

The Ministry of the Interior has announced an immediate restriction on the use of motorbikes within Binduri Township and its surrounding areas in the Upper East Region. This directive comes after an attack carried out by unidentified individuals on a military patrol team in the area.

According to the Ministry, the decision is part of urgent efforts to stabilize the security situation. The restriction aims to help maintain public order, safeguard lives and property, and assist ongoing security operations.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and act responsibly during this period. The government is calling on traditional authorities, community leaders, youth groups, and all individuals in Binduri and nearby communities to exercise restraint and support peace-building efforts. Citizens are also encouraged to address concerns through lawful and non-violent means.

Authorities have cautioned that anyone who fails to comply with the directive will face arrest and legal action in line with existing laws.

The Ministry of the Interior reaffirmed its commitment to protecting citizens and ensuring security across the country.

The statement was signed by Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Member of Parliament and Minister for the Interior, and issued on 28th April, 2026.
